BATHER DROWNED
Girl Caught in Surf TRAGEDY AT TAURANGA By Telegraph—Press Association. Taiiranga, Jan. 23. While bathing in the surf this morn;ig at Mount Maunganui, June Mears, ged 13, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. (ears, of Walton, got into-difficulties, lembers of the life-saving club ran out i reel and attempted a rescue, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
The body was recovered within ten minutes, but artificial respiration proved unavailing.
