JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

Wellington Girls’ College

It is expected that there will be a record attendance of old girls at the jubilee celebrations of the Wellington Girls’ College. For a long time tbe energetic committee iu charge of the arrangements has been making many plans, and the programme promises to be something quite out of the ordinary. A pageant is being arranged by Mrs. James Hannah, and there will be many other attractions.

On February 3, at 9.30, there will be a roll call and morning tea, which will be followed at midday by a civic reception in the Town Hall by the Mayor. In tbe afternoon there will be an official welcome at the college, at which it is hoped the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, and the Minister of Education, Hon. R. Masters, will be present. During the afternoon the bronze service tablet presented by old girls iu honour of past headmistresses will be unveiled, and in the evening a dinner will be held at Kirkcaldie’s. The next day, February 4, there will be a reception to past aufl present staffs, followed by a garden party at the college, which will be attended by their Excellencies tbe Governor-General, Lord Bledisle, and tbe Lady Bledisloe. The bronze jubilee gates presented by the old girls will be officially opened by their Excellencies. On Sunday, February 5, to conclude tbe celebrations, a service will be held at St. Paul’s ProCathedral, conducted by Bishop Sprott, and an address will be given by Canon Percival James.
