N.Z.-Russian Trade
Sir, —I observe that the New Zealand; Welfare League have. returned to the above subject in your issue of Wednesday last. ■ I am glad to nqfe that the league mention my reference to the adverse trade - ' balance of Britain and this country with the U.S.A., and agree , that it is ; “en-r tirely one-sided” and. “an unhealthy, condition.” The condition in this particular matter has existed for a number of years now, and I again inquire wjiy the league have never thought it a duty as the protectors of our national welfare to publicly draw attention to it, especially since', it is a question of millions as against thousands with the Soviet. The. league state that “New Zealand pro-Soviet correspondents accuse Great Britain of bias” in thi. matter. May I suggest that the league’s silence in regard to the trade balance of Britain and ourselves with the U.S.A, falls under exactly the same head. -—I am, etc.. BONNE FOL Auckland, December 31.
