Wellington Cricket Team
Sir, —Beaten outright by Otago, and beaten outright by Canterbury. This is the record of the holders of the Plunket Shield in the two matches played to date —a record which should rouse the powers that be to a sense of the fool’s.paradise in which they have been living, and the realisation that either the selectors have failed in their job or Wellington cricket is not in the good shape they thought it " a .For myself I think the blame lie* at the door of the selectors. They have trust.ed too much to the old hands and the country players, and have overlooked good men at’ their own doors. I would suggest the following as a team with a bit of snap in it. and one that would show that Wellington cricket is not the poor thing the two recent defeats would appear to indicate : —Dempster, Foley, Blandford. James (captain), Lainason, Crook. Chaiupness. Parsloe, Blundell, Griffiths, and Harrison. —I am. etc.. WALTER MONCKTON. Wellington. January 4.
