DAY DREAMS

I like to sit on the doorstep And rest my hand under my chin, Then when I’m curled up comfy, I’m ready to begin. I dream that I'm a Princess With long fair curly hair; And. I ride in the park every morning On a beautiful chestnut mare. Then I’m a grown-up lady, Just like my sister Anne; And I go to lots of dances. And carry a little pink fan. I’d like to be Granfa Higgins, And wear spectacles on my nose; And every morning before breakfast, Ten times I’d touch my toes. But- there I hear Mother calling, And I know it’s time for tea; And because we’re having muffins, I’m really glad I’m ME. —Original, by "Jacobina,” aged 15, Wellington.
