Boats were all’ close-reefed, and. crew’s Aycre kept busv when they received the lull force of ‘the blow off the entrance to Evans Bay. lu the first-class race, only tw’o boats, Ailsa (scr.) and Viola (Tniin.) went round the course, set from Clyde Quay io Somes Rock buoy to the Southern Blinker and back to Clyde Quay. Kona just crossed the starting line and returned, finding conditions too boisterous; Wairere II became somewhat unmanageable after a brief minute or so in the narrow' confines of the Boat Harbour, and did not start ; Atalanta broke a stern-line and drifted perilously around the other moored craft at one stage of the proceedings: and Wairere I. while coming up from Evans Bay, blew out a jib, and consequently was unable to participate iu the race. ■ Five boats started in the secoud-elass race,' Nanette (12min.). Tsca (24), Galatea (scr.), - Mini (ITmin.), and lolanthe (14), which was sailed over a course set from Clyde Quay to Jerningham to Somes Rock buoy, to Koro Koro buov to Jeruiugbam, back to Clyde Quay.
