Hutt Valley v. Wairarapa On Friday evening last the Hutt Valley" representatives journeyed to Masterton lo try conclusions with the Wairarapa representative team, which was at full sterngth. The game was played on Saturday morning in boisterous weather. . ' Wilkinson won the toss for Hutt Valley, and sent in McKay and Corbett to open the innings. After two men had been dismissed cheaply, Corbett and Taylor became associated in a splendid partnership. which yielded 54 runs. The total innings realised 111 runs. For Wairarapa, Pool, 3 for 41, and Armitage, 4 for 28, bore the brunt; of the attack. Pool, who bowled almost, continuously, sent down five maidens. Munn and Coleman opened for Wairarapa, but the latter saw three men dismissed before he became associated with Sturgeon in a steady partnership against difficult bowling. Although Coleman scored only 10 runs his rock-like defence proved valuable at a time when things were not going too well for his side. The batsmen increased the score to 63. Hutt Valley thus win by 48 runs on the first innings.
