BRIGHT SPOTS IN THE NEWS
A general improvement in the quality of New Zealand hides has been effected as a result of recent improvements and a much better article is being turned out, said the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hou. G. W. Forbes, in the House of Representatives yesterday. An improvement is being shown by Lancashire’s cotton industry. The export of printed cottou goods for the past ten months increased by over 100,000,000 square yards on the figures for the corresponding period last year. • » • British iron and steel manufacturers are reported to be experiencing a gradual but definite expansion in activity. More export business is being done and greater confidence is apparent in the market
