“ELIJAH” PRESENTED

St. Thomas’s Church Choir Well-balanced singing and impressive presentation marked the recital of Mendelssohn’s oratorio “Elijah” by a choir of 60 voices at St. Thomas’s Church, Wellington South, last night.. The blending of the voices was excellent and the work of the soloists of a high standard. Mr. W. A. Gatheridge was the conductor, and much of the credit for the success of the evening must go to him. Before each part, Mr. Gatheridge gave a short explanatory address. ■ I ; ' ' ! . The soloists were: Mrs. Amy Woodward (soprano), Mrs. Wilfred Andrews (contralto), Mr. Charles Williams (tenor), and Mr. Ernest Short (bass). Miss Lilian Thawley was organist aud ? W. Billington pianist.
