HOSTELS FOR YOUTH

Sunshine Club’s Proposal Shilling beds and shilling meals provided at a chain of hostels throughout the country are planned by the Sunshine Club, a new outdoor movement for young people, which has now been founded. The club subscription is 1/6. At a meeting held on Tuesday evening, and attended by representatives of the girl guides, cyclists, tramping clubs and the Otaki health camp, a committee was set up to work for the establishment of youth hostels in the district. Mr. H. E. Anderson, president of the Tararua Club, said that people not belonging to existing clubs could join the Sunshine Qlub, which would be in the youth hostel association, already active in Canterbury, and could secure inexpensive accommodation at the hostels proposed to be set up, and could thus tramp without the heavy packs that camping out needed.
