ARTISTIC FLORAL SALON
Miss Black Entertains Yesterday afternoon Miss Black entertained many friends at a private view of her new floral salon in Woodward Street, which will be open to the public to-day. Miss Black received her guests wearing a smart marocaiu frock of reseda ■green with matching short lace coat and should'er posy of cloth of gold roses. She also wore a tilted green tagcl straw hat. The salon was much admired and those present were impressed by the coolness and restfulness of the colourings. Buff walls and rich black Japanese lacquer furniture were a fitting background for nature’s brilliant flowers. The floor and window dais were covered with green raffia grass, upon which sat quaint hobgoblins, bunny rabbits and frogs. In the centre of the room was a very handsome large mushroom. Gold fish swam in richly cut-glass bowls and a golden canary hung in a standard cage gave voice to song. Roses predominated and peeped from every available corner —luscious pink Amerlcan Beauty and primrose Marechai Neil. Giant cloth of gold hydrangeas made a wonderful - show.; /Argentine lea, ITragmentissima' Trises, I'ritoma, Japv anese Irises, Sweet Reas and many other choice flowers perfumed and behutifled the room. On a lacquer table was placed a cieUeate Japanese garden out of which sprayed a branch of Bilbergia, with quaint fuchsia-like flowers. .Fems or every description lined the stairway and each guest as she entered received a dainty shoulder spray. The salon is quite unique and up-to-date and will attract many flower lovers to its doors. A most delicious afternoon tea was served 3,8 the guests arrived.—P.B-A. ,
