Economic Conference POSTPONEMENT POSSIBLE Ottawa, October 25. 1 No date has been fixed for the International Economic Conference, the Prime Minister, Mr. R. B. Bennett, told the Opposition leader, Mr. Mackenzie King in the House of Commons to-day. Press reports indicating the postponement of the Conference were based<on some foundation, Mr. Bennett said. Some discussion had been going on in connection with the projected conference, but particulars had not yet been made public. PREPARATORY COMMITTEE Sir Walter Layton Resigns London, Oct. 25. Sir Walter Layton, editor of the “Economist,” has resigned from the Preparatory Committee of the Economic Conference, considering that his useful representation of the Government is precluded by divergent views regarding the implied endorsement of the compensatory tariff principle, the Ottawa agreements with Australia and Canada, and other matters.
