SALE OF AN HOTEL
Misrepresentation Alleged JURY AWARDS DAMAGES By Telegraph.—Press Association. Uiristchurcli, Oct. 11. Damages of £2187 were awarded by a jury in tbe Supreme Court to-day to an hotelkeeper, John Daniel Henry McCurdy, against Ballin Brothers, wine and spirit merchants, in respect of the purchase by the plaintiff McCurdy of the Pier Hotel, Kaiapoi. Plaintiff alleged that he bad been induced to buy the hotel on representations concerning tbe business done in the hotel made by Ballin Bros, and their agents, and that defendants had made the representations knowing them to bo untrue or made them recklessly without regard to whether they were true or not The jury found that the representations had been made recklessly and without regard to the question of their truth or otherwise. Both counsel moved for judgment on the findings. His Honour reserved question.
