ANNUAL MEETING HELD

Vogelmorn Tennis Club There was an attendance of more thin 60 members and friends at the fourth annual meeting of the Vogeltown Municipal Tennis Club (Inc.), held recently in the new Town Hall at Mornington, Mr. H. C. H. Backhouse, president of the club, presiding. The annual accounts showed that during the past season the club had reduced its liability by £lOO, and this was eonaidered to be very satisfactory. The club is a comparatively new one, but although over £BOO has been Spent, the present liabilities do not exceed £350. The election of officers resulted as follows President, Mr. C. 11. Backhouse; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Staples and A. G. Cathie; hon. secretary, Mr. L. G. Thomson: hon. treasurer, Mr. J. M. Rufsei; club captain, Mr. F. R. Macken; vice-captain, Mr. C. Nelson; ladies’ captain, Miss W. Broughton; general committee, Mrs. G. H. Weir, Miss A. Fitzgerald, Messrs. J. Archer, G. H. Weir, W. Scrivens, A. Mills; hon. auditor, Mr. A. B. France. The official opening took place on Saturday, October 1, when, in the presence of between seventy and eighty members 1 and friends, the president declared the courts open for play, after which the ladies provided afternoon tea for those present.
