POISONING OF DOGS
Destruction in Dunedin Recent heavy mortality among dogs in Dunedin and adjacent boroughs would seem to suggest that some person or persons, have embarked on a systematic campaign of destruction, says the "Otago Daily Times.” Four deaths from poisoning at Upper Junction were reported to the meeting ef the executive of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and it was stated that the loss of these animals was a very serious matter for their owner, since he used them in the pursuit of his calling as a drover. At Sawyers’ Bay, St. Clair, Sunshine and Port Chalmers similar deaths have occurred among dogs, and in all cases there have been undoubted signs <>f poisoning. An endeavour is being made by the police to solve the mystery of these sudden deaths, and the society decided to assist In the search for the poisoners by offering a reward of £lO for anyone furnishing ’nformation that will lead to the conviction of those responsible for the deaths.
