NEW RECREATION GROUND

Proposed No. 5 Scheme Work The formation of a new recreation ground on the Town Belt at Sutherland Crescent under the No. 5 relief works scheme, was recommended by the Reserves ■ Committee to the City Council last evening. It Is proposed to Include portion of the Zoo grounds in the area. Councillor F. Meadowcroft said the work was recommended by the city engineer as one which would provide a ground where It was needed. The Mayor asked what the work was to cost, and, if started, were they likely to be able to finish it? The proposal, he said, should go before the Works Committee, in order that the council should know more about it and Its probable cost. They would have ijo money for the No. '5 scheme after September. The Mayor suggested that the matter be referred back to the Works Committee, and this was agreed to.
