SAND-DRIFT NUISANCE
The Trouble at Worser Bay The sand nuisance at Worser Bay came before the City Council at last evening’s meeting. Councillor R. Semple said an old fence which had held the sand back had been removed, with the result that it was impossible to live in some of the homes there. The old fence gave some protection, but now that it was gone he wished to know if the council could not do something, as the sand now swept unchecked through the open space. The Mayor said he thought the chairman of the works committee had the matter in hand. The condition was very bad, but probably when they were dealing with Awa Road (under an arrangement with the Harbour Board), the spoil could be put on the sand. He suggested that a brushwood fence might be erected to keep the sand back In the meantime. Councillor T. Forsyth said the fence should not have been taken down. He would attend to the matter.
