HOCKEY ON SKATES
With a view to selecting a representative team of players to meet the'Auckland team which is to visit Wellington on Wedneselay. August 31. a .series of trial matches have been held nt the Royal Roller Rink. Up to date the Petone combination has been too strong for the opposition, and registered a further win on Thursday evening', when they defeated Newtown in a close game.- At the conclusion of the game the selector. Mr. Toller, announced that the following players had been chosen to take part in a trial match to be held on Tuesday next: —-R. Howard. R. Tovey. J. Matson. G. Matson. P. Cotter, L. Dyer. H. Roberts. A. McDonald. G. Austin; G. Costello, and K. Williams.
