MILK DRINKING IN PARIS.
Paris is gradually becoming a city of milk drinkers, according to figures made public by the French State Railways. While the consumption of milk is increasing. that of wine is decreasing. During 1931 350.000.000 litres of milk were consumed by the inhabitants of the French capital, this being an advance of five ner cent .over the previous year. Each Parisian consumes about 70 litres of milk each year; 10 years ago the figures were 60. To protect the milk supply of Paris and to prevent its contamination, strict regulations are enforced by 'he Prefecture of the Seine. The milk 's brought to Paris in special railroad cars, and is sterilised mechanically before being offered fox eala.
