Cottle—Hawkins

A wedding of much interest recenQy celebrated at the Te Horo Anglican Church was that of Mavis, youngest daughter of Mrs. Hawkins and the late Mr. F. S. Hawkins, and Vernon, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Cottle, of Te Horo. , , „ The Rev. Mr. Ransom conducted the ceremony, and Mr. Selwyn Blackburn was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her brother Mr. John Hawkins, Nireaha, wore a long frock cut on Early Victorian Hues of pale pink broderie Anglalse over white satin, and pink shoes and mittens. A halo head-dress of orange blossom and pink roses held the beautiful hand-worked veil in place. A treble necklet of pearls was worn, and a sheaf of flowers in shades of pink and cream was carried. Miss Helga Prescott-Walker, of Wellington, the bridesmaid, was dressed in a white flowered organdie frock made with fitting bodice, full skirt, and puff sleeves finished with a French model bow of deep cyclamen taffeta. A halo head-dress of flowers was worn, also mittens and shoes to tone with her frock.

The 'best man was Mr. A. A. Rolfe, of Te Horo. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at the Oxford rooms, Levin, by Mrs. Hawkins, and later the bride and bridegroom left by car on a tour of the North Island, the bride wearing a smart ensemble of English tweed. <« a $ Parker—Hamilton A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at. St. Mark’s Church, Carterton, on July 27, by the Rev. W. F. Stent, when Rosie Maud, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Hamilton, of Rhodes Street, Carterton, and formerly of Parkvale, Was married to Alfred Low, third son of Mrs. M. Parker, of Lyall Bay, Wellington. The bride, who entered;the church with her father, to the strains of t]ie •‘Wedding March,” played by Mr. Mil-lar-Hope, Was in a frock of ivory satin and lace moulded to a high waistline and finished With a true lovers’ knot With this she wore a beautiful coronet and veil and carried a shower bouquet of anemones, freezias and maidenhair fern.

In attendance were two maids, Miss Marjorie Hamilton, sister of the bride (chief), and Miss Daisy. Parker, sister of the bridegroom. Both were frocked alike in powder blue georgette with lace coatees, blue felt hats, and shoes and stockings to match. Both carried pink anemones, freezias, and maidenhair fern.
