KNITTED CUSHION
Instructions for Making A correspondent provides the following instructions for making a knitted cushion, for which an enquiry was made. The work is done throughout in plain knitting, i.e., each row a knit roU’. Materials: —3oz skeins of colour, loz bluck, say loz each of flame, brown and fawn. Cast on 54 stitches on Nd. 7 needles in the black, and knit two rows. Joni.in the fawn and knit to end row. Continue in fawn throughout this section as follows:—
Knit 6, turn. 2nd row; Knit 6. 3rd row: Kiiit 12, turn. 4th row: Knit 12. sth row: Knit 18, turn. 6th row: KniC 18. 7th row: Knit 24, turn. Sth row: Knit 24. 9th row: Knit 30, turn. 10th row: Knit 30. 11th row: Knit 36, turn. 12th row: Knit 36. 13th row : Knit 42, turn. 14th row: Knit 42.' 15th row: Knit 48. turn. 16th row: Knit 48. 17th row: Knit 54. This completes one section. Now, work two rows in black and one row in fliuib, then commence the second section, sanjti .as first, knit 6, turn, etc. Work about 32 sections, then cast off. Join up peatly. Pick up loose stitches in centre and draw, up tigfitly. Covey a large button with the colours and put Over joined centre. This pattern mnken n cushion about 18in. across. Four rows of black look better than two.
