AVIATOR IN COURT
Three Charges Dismisseed ACCIDENT ON GOLF LINKS By Telegraph— Press Association. Gisborne, July 14. Three charges, brought by the police against Simon Baring, who crashed on tl.j golf links while flying a Hawke’s Bay Aero Club’s machine on June 11, were dismissed by the magistrate, Mr. P. H. Harper. Baring was charged with trick flying over the golf course without permission from the club, with not being in possession of a valid pilot’s license, and with flying an aircraft in such a manner as to be dangerous to persons and property. ! The magistrate held that there was a danger of inexperienced pilots stunting at too low an .altitude, but the defendant had apparently not been instructed as to what was a safe altitude. Since the defendant made the flight with Captain Lett’s consent he could not be guilty of more than a technical offence. Touching on the charge of trick flying over the golf course without the permission of the golf club, the magistrate accepted the testimony that the “stunts” were carried out on an area between the golf course and the sea.
