EVERY WICKET
Verity Takes Ten for 10 PERFORMANCE ACCLAIMED London, July 12. “The finest bowling performance in history,” is Gilligan’s tribute to Verity’s ten wickets for 10 runs, including the hat trick—the victims were Walker, Harris, and Dunn—in Yorkshire’s match with Nottinghamshire in the county series. Verity bowled 19.4 overs, including 16 maidens. The previous best performance was Geary's ten wickets for 18 runs, against Glamorgan in 1929. The hot sun, following heavy rain, made Verity’s high delivery and wonderful spin unplayable. Gilligan is of the opinion that Verity will be invaluable in the rainy periods in Australia. LANCASHIRE v. INDIANS London, July 12. Lancashire defeated the All-India team by six wickets.
