GENERAL REMITS
National Dairy Conference YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, June 23. Morning and afternoon sessions were held by the National Dairy Conference at Palmerston North to-day. Addresses were delivered by the chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board, Mr. W. A. lorns, and the Director of the Dairy Research Institute at Massey Agricultural College, Professor W. Riddet. The remaining remits on the agenda paper were dealt with. Mr. A. Morton, of’Egmont Village, presided. The question of levies was raised in a remit from the Awahuri Dairy Company, but the general consensus of opinion was that nothing should be done that would involve a reduction in the publicity work on behalf of New Zealand produce in the overseas markets. The conference passed the following resolution: “That in view of the low price ruling for butterfat, and. also taking into consideration the various efforts being made to bring down costs, a substantial reduction should be made in the grading and other charges.” Remits were received from the Cambridge and Morrinsville Dairy Companies on the subject, of annual conferences, and as the same principle was involved in both of them the Morrinsville remit was withdrawn and the following one introduced by the Cambridge company was passed: “That as all matters ef importance to the dairying industry in regard to quality, manufacturing, administration, - etc., are being dealt with at ,the National Dairy Conference, the expense of holding the suggested Dairy Produce Board Conference in October next is not warranted, and that the conference be not held for this season.” •
