WARSHIP’S CRUISE

Diomede in the Pacific The cruiser Diomede will leave Auckland next Tuesday for an extended cruise of the Pacific Islands, according to a statement issued-by the Minister of Defence, Hon. J..G. Cobbe, yesterday. The warship will return to the Naval Base on August 26. From xYuckland the Diomede will go to Nukualofa, where she will arrive on July 1, leaving there a week later for Rarotonga, where she is due on July 9. She remains there for two days, then going to Papeete, where she will be from July 13 to July 18. Her next call will be at Raiatea on July 19, and the next day she will leave for Bora Bora, which will be reached the same day. On July 22 the warship will leave for Pago Pago, the American naval station, where she will arrive on July 25. Three days later she will .leave for Apia, the British port in Samba, qnd she will be there until August 1. Departure will be taken for Suva, Fiji, on August 4, and a long stay will be made there until August 17. It is while the warship is there that extensive entertainment and sporting fixtures are arranged. From Suva the Diomede will go to Lautoka. where she will be from August 18 to August 22 Leaving Lautoka on. the latter date, the Diomede will arrive at Auckland on August 26.
