Masterton Arrangements COMMITTEES APPOINTED Dominion Special Service. Masterton, June 23. Further preparations in connection with the forthcoming B and C grade band contest to be held in Masterton were made at a meeting of the general committee of the Masterton.Band Contest Committee.. The following sub-committees were ap-. nointedFinance. Messrs. W. White, K. J Young. H. L. Roberts; reception. Messrs. G. Jackson, W. White, J. Mulvey, A. W. Russell; grounds and hall, Messrs. J. Candy, F. J. Hunn, L. S« Nicol. G. Hutchison; .publicity. Messrs. W. E. Knott, W. Laird, W. J. 1 alamontain. It was decided that the executive committee comprise the chairmen oi ihe subcommittees and the supervisor, Mr. F. J. Hunn, , . ... The business houses are to be mviten to co-operate and if possible to hold a carnival week, concluding with the band contest on November 19. . ... The appointment of a women s committee and that of a catering committee were held over.

Greytown, June 23. Delegates representing the-Upper Hutt, Martinborough; Carterton. and Masterton bands attended the annual meeting of the Wairdrapa Brass Bands Association at G The°election of* officers resulted as fol-lQ#:-Patrom Mr. W. B Allan; president, Colonel T, W. McDonald; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. J. McCurdy, W. D. Knott. H. Rees, W. J. Martin. P. Bannin. auditor, Mr. H. M. B Trapp; secretary and treasurer, Mr. 11. McPhee ; chan man, Mr. R. P. Wakelip. . . A suggestion that ap art union in aid of bands and fire brigades in the Waiiarapa be considered was made by the Maitinborough Band. It was decided to approach the fire brigade requesting their co-operation. ( Mr. R. J. Young reported on the posed band contest to be held in Masterton. the arrangements for which were endorsed and the necessary steps to promote it takeiii . ... _ It was decided to affiliate with the Isew Zealand Brass Bands’ Association. The condiictoi- o£ the Woolston Band, Christchurch. Mr, R. J. Estall, was appointed musical judge, and Mr. Jt., J. Munn, of Masterton, supervisor. It was suggested that Captain Sugden and two others from /Wellington, Ser-geant-Major Rogers. .Masterton; and . Ser-geant-Major Perrett, Dannevirke, be appointed military judges. Mr Younff reported, that a shield had been donated by Mr. James Candy and himself for the B grade selection, and one had also been given by the New Zeaq land .Brass Bands’ Association for the U grade aggregate. ' The’ rules for the contest were approved and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Young for his work in promoting the contest. ~
