Purchase of Groceries INTERESTING JUDGMENT Dominion Special Service. Masiertou. April 8. Judgment in a civil case in which Allan and Co., provision merchants, claimed from Walter H. S. Heaps and the separate estate of his wife, Aileen M Heaps, the sum of £ll3/2/2 was delivered by Mr. J. Miller, S.M., in the Masterton Magistrate’s "ourt this morning. The plaintiff company supplied groceries to the defendants, Mrs. Heaps ordering the goods, while the account was in the name of Mr. Heaps. The magistrate held that Mrs. Heaps was the agent of her husband, and therefore was not liable. Judgment was -iven for the plaintiff company against the husband and for the wife against the plaintiff company. FALSE FIRE-ALARMS Two Youths Fined Palmerston North, April 8. Two youths appeared in the Juvenile Court, this morning before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., charged with giving malicious false Are alarms. The youths, whose ages were about 15 years, were each lined £l, and were warned that, the penalty would have been higher had they been older. OROUA ELECTORATE Mr. Bond’s Position Palmerston North, April 8. Mr. E. O. Bond, of Awahuri, Palmerston North, who has been mentioned as the Labour candidate for Orona at the next election, desires that, his position be made quite clear. 'When Mr. Bond was approached prior to the last election to stand as a,Labour candidate he felt he was not in a position to accept nomination. But should an election eventuate in the near future, he now feels free to offer his services as official Labour candidate for the Orona electorate, should the Labour Party so desire.
