SUMMER FLOWERS

Wellington South Display MANY VARIETIES SHOWN Roses, gladioli, carnations, dahlias, and flowers of many other varieties were exhibted at the summer show of the Wellington South Horticultural Society, which was held in St. Thomas’s Hall, Newtown, yesterday. Mr. R. McKeen, M.P., who was introduced by Mr. J. W. Salmon, opened the show, and expressed pleasure iu seeing such a beautiful display.- lie wished the society every success. ■ The ehampion rose, a pink variety, was grown by Mr. (.1. S. Nicoll, Karori, and tlie champion gladiolus, a tall spike with heliotrope and red blooms, by Mr. W. Rice. The carnation ehampion, a fine yellow, pink-tiped specimens, was exhibited by Mr. 11. Jones, and a large yellow bloom, shown by Mr. W. Chambers, gained the judge’s approval in the dahlia section. Detailed results are: —
