Queensland Simmers. Yesterday Queensland simmered again in terrific heat. The thermometer soared to 120 degrees at Hughendeu. Several people collapsed and an elderly woman died. Storms at night were accompanied by lightning and fireballs. The latter were responsible for the death of several cattle.
Author-Editor Dead. The death is announced in London of Sir Sidney Low, author and editor, at tlie age of 74. He was formerly editor of “St. James’s Gazette,” mid acted as special correspondent during the Royal visit, to India in 1905-6. Among his writings are “Dictionary if English History,” “Governance of England,” “Vision of India,” and “The British Constitution.”
Ethiopian Prince's Thanks. The Prince of Ethiopia visited the King at Sandringham on Wednesday and remained to luncheon with his Majesty. During the visit he delivered a special message of thanks for the British mission to his country when the Duke of Gloucester attended the coronation of the Emperor of Ethiopia.
