RIDDIFORD BATHS
Attendances Have Increased i The attendances at the Rifldiford Baths, Lower Hutt, this summer have been greatlj- in excess of last, summer, and are a source of great satisfaction to the custodian, Mr. J. Penhall. For November, 1929. tlie takings at the baths were just over £l7\. In November. 19)40, they, had dropped to £B, while lor last November' they had jumped to' £4O. Last December the takings were £34, and the indications are. stated Mr. Penhall, that that total will be substantially passed for this December. J The temperature of the water this season, said. Mr. Penhall, has been such as to make swimming a pleasure. To him the most satisfactory feature was the number of youths, boys and girls, who were training solidly for the junior swiming events towards the end of January. He noted with approval the free, easy style possessed by most, and their willingness to be instructed by people who had had a greater experience in swimming. They were setting about their training with a seriousness that augured well for their future.
