EXCURSION TO PICTON

The turbine steamer Wahine will be run from Wellington for the excursion to Picton on Boxing Day. She will leave Wellington at 8 a.m., and with her 20-knot speed should run across well under three hours, only half of this time being in the Strait, as there is a long stretch of harbour at each end. The time allowed on shore at Picton will be well over three hours, giving plenty of time to explore the surroundings of the port, to go for a launch run in Queen Charlotte Sound, or even for n quick run to Blenheim and back. The return trip will be commenced shortly after 2 p.m., and the vessel should be berthed alongside the wharf at Wellington well before 5.30 p.m. v
