Radio Station’s Scheme
MR. COATES MAKES APPEAL
Speaking from 2ZW radio station on Saturday evening, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister in Charge of Unemployment, made an appeal for generous recognition of the needs of distressed families. He remarked that many people who were to-day needing relief had themselves been donors to charity when times were prosperous. Mr Coates referred to the “Smith Family scheme being fostered by 2ZW, and expressed his strong approval of the project. , . „ Under this scheme, any inquirer wish ing to assist can be put in touch with a distressed family whose bona tides have been investigated. The identity of the person offering help need not be disclosed to the recipients, and assistance, may be given through the intermediary appointed by the radio station. The Prime Minister, the Rt.
