Bv Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, December o ; The two-day Hawke Cup elimination match. Waiapu v. Poverty Bay, concluded to-day, Poverty Bay winning by 23 runs on the first innings. Waiapu made 181 in the first strike (J. Oates 08, M. W. Fox 40). J. Scholium took four for 57. Poverty Bay scored 204 (C. Fraser 41, L. Thompson 38 not out. J. Scholium 34). In the second innings, Wainpu made 153 (J. Moody 37. J. Oates 34). J. Scholium took four for 42. Poverty Bay lost two wickets for 125 (J. Scholium o“, M. Beuth 40).
