BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
Bill Objected To On the grounds that the Building Construction Bill now before Parliament would, if given effect to, unduly burden with unnecessary expense the owners undertaking the erection of buildings, the Hastings Borough Council decided to enter a protest against the proposed charges. The proposal was to charge a special fee at the rate of one-fourth of one per cent, of the cost of such erection, reconstruction, or alteration as the case might The Hastings Borough Council also sought to enlist the support of other local bodies.
At last night’s meeting the Petone Borough Council decided to support the protest.
