Petition from Residents At a previous meeting of the Petone Borough Council a petition was received from residents along the foreshore east of Cuba Street, protesting that beach improvement work was concentrated west or Cuba Street, and that the portion east of Cuba Street was neglected. The'Petitioners asked for a share of the improvements. Last night a deputation of 15 residents waited on the council. The speakers were Messrs. V. Booth and McU “We ll are here to speak on behalf of the people living between Jessie Street and Cuba Street,” said Mr. Booth. “We admit a great deal of work has been done down about McEwan Park. But the portion we represent has had very little done. We consider it about time a few improvements were made. We suggest (1) that the sea-wall, which is below the read, should be raised; (2) the footpath should be extended to Jessie Street; (3) two rafts should be provided in the surf, one at Williams Street and the other at Jessie Street; (4) seats should be provided; (5) the road should be tar-sealed; (8) bathingsheds should be provided. Also other improvements west of Cuba Street should be continued to Jessie Street.
