Amateur Championship SOME GOOD ROUNDS Brinsden Wins Final Dominion Special Service. Rotorua, Augrust 28. The Rotorua Golf Club’s amateur championship tournament commenced on Wednesday, when some good golf was shown in the first and second rounds. G. Brinsden ,Titirangi), in the final defeated H. Lu.*- (Auckland), S up to 7 to play. D. Anderson in the first round did the last five lioles in 3’s, which is believed to be a record for the course. The following are the results: — First Bound. —G. Brinsden beat E. Hutchison, 3 and 2; J. H. Hean beat Barnes Graham, junr., 5 and 4; C. J. Johnson beat H. Troutbeck, 3 and 1; B. C. Smith beat Barnes Graham, senr., 5 and 4; M. D. Carr beat F. Fryer, 2 and 1; C. Kusabs beat E. H. Hill, 1 up at the nineteenth: Hape beat J. M. Hussey, 2 up; F. C. Hutchison beat C, Britton, 2 and 1; G. Tallis beat H. Bryan, 7 and G; O’Callaghan beat F. Simpson, 4 and 3; W. Abbott beat Gerrard, 2 and 1: S. Powdrell beat L. B. Campbell, 4 and 3: H. B. Lusk beat R. J. Love, 7 and 6; A. H. Nicoll beat H. Tidmarsli, 1 up; J. Arden Bott beat D. Tatere, 6 and 5; J. Goss beat A. Walden, 6 and 5. Second Round.—G. Brinsden beat J. H. Hean, S and 7; C. J. Johnson beat R. C. Smith, 4 and 3; C. Kusabs beat M. D. Carr, 1 up; F. C. In the final of the championship, Brinsden (Tltirangl) defeated the veteran Lusk (Auckland), 8 up and 7 to play. Brinsden was 4 up when the players went Into lunch after the first eighteen holes. The easiness of Brlnsden’s victory does not detract from the excellence of his play. He was superbly confident and sure. Lusk’s putting let him down. In the Thermal Challenge Cup final, A. E. Craig defeated D. Anderson 2 and L Both come from O'torohanga.
