VANISHED MAN COMES HOME
And Disappears Again
After being missing for nearly thirteen years, a Birmingham ex-soldier returned to his home one day, placed a package containing £250 in notes On the table In frbnt of his wife, and then walked out of the house and vanished again, The ex-soldier is Mr. James Lloyd, a former engineer who served throughout the war with a London regiment. Shortly after the Armistice he disappeared. The only news his wife had of him was a rumour that he was In America. Mrs. Lloyd, who is living with her sister-in-law, was at tea when suddenly her husband walked in.
“I couldn’t believe tny eyes at first,” she said. “I thought I was seeing A ghost. My husband greeted nie almost as though he had never been away.” “ Tlello, Millie,’ he said, ‘ls ipy te« ready?’” “Where have you been?” asked Mrs. Lloyd. “In America,’’ answered her husband, calmly. “I’ve got a good business there.” The returned Mr. Lldyd had hip tea and then rose and put on his hat. Placing the package of notes on the table, he made his exit as unconcenifedly as he had appeared. /
