Various Riding Accounts GENERAL RATES RECEIVED At a meeting held in Stokes’ Valley, Mr W Dyer, the Epuni representative on the Hutt County Council, stated that more money had been spent in Stokes Valley than was received from it in i rates. The balance-sheet of the Hutt • County for the year ended March dl, 1930, shows the accounts of each rising separately. Epuni Biding* The general rates received fr ®®. .‘J*.® Epuni riding amounted to £3783/10/3. which, with the Government subsidy of £551/10/7, brought the total to 6/10. Mungaroa Biding. The general rates received from the Mungaroa riding to £1827 16/11; Government subsidy was £307/9/-; making a total of £2135/5/11. From this £733/12/11 was deducted as the riding’s share of the general account expenditure; leaving to be transferred to the-riding accounts, £l4Ol/13/-. A balance on April 1, 1930 of £413/18/8; the riding’s share of rent from the Moonshine dump, £l2/10/-,. and £4O/15/- metal royalty from Akatarawa. brought the total amount available for distribution to £1877/17/5. There were spent £1296/8/5 on roadworks; £l/10/- on road legislation; tools, £lB/14/0; engineering, £Af/16/3; Akaiarawa Reserve. £9/15/-; transfer to HnttWalkanae highway account, £342/3/11; leaving a balance of £164/9/1. Taupo Biding. | General rates received from the Taupo riding totalled £1968/8/5. The Government subsidy amounted to £258/15/-.; £635/7/5 was deducted as tho riding’s share of the- general account expenditure, and £l5Ol/16/- was transferred to the riding account. There was also a balance at April 1, 1030, of £249/10/9. Rent of the Plimmerton pavilion brought in £2l/5/-; slots in Plimmerton pavilion, £2/8/11: sanitation fees, £336; other items, £7/1/-. The total amount available for expenditure was, therefore, £2208/1/8. The amount actually spedt was £2326/17/1. The expenditure was made up of roadworks, £1365/15/3; transfer to PHmmer-ton-Pahatttannl highway account, £122 0/7; street lighting, £152; Plimmerton pavilion maintenance, £23/13/3; drain cleaning, £l3/8/11; sandbreak, £2O/0/6; road legislation and compensation, £22 11/-; pavilion levelling wall and levelling ground. £llB/7/4; bathing sheds, etc., £9 7/10: engineering, £B5/7/3; tools, £4/4/0; beach custodian, £26; Plimmerton sanitation, £364/0/5. Walnn!-o-Mata Biding. General rates received from the Wainul-o-Mata riding amounted to £2920/13/7. Government subsidy Was £370/17/8, The riding’s share of the general account expenditure was £B9O/4/2, leaving £2401 7/1 to be transferred to the riding account. This, with tho balance in hand of £1029/5/3 from the previous year, and a refund of £25/16/1 on roadworks, left £3456/8/5 available. The expenditure comprised £2615/9/- on roadworks, £166/10/- on street lighting, £6/4/6 on tools, £3/3/- on traffic signs, street names, etc.; and £33/16/- on water .and drainage, leaving a balance of £631 Wharoroa Biding. General rates received from the Wbarcroa riding amounted to £3253. Government subsidy was £483/2/-, making a total of £3736/8/11. From this was deducted £ll6B/0/3, the riding’s share of the general account expenditure. £2a67 19/8 was transferred to the riding accounts, there was a balance on April 1, 1930, of £1293/0/5; £4O/6/- rent from roadman’s cottage; £3/5/10 fifths from the Treasury; £155/19/6, contributions toward formation of Wharemaku Road; £O2 7/4, refund Horowhenua County for maintenanse of Boundary Road; and £l3/18/3 refunds for crossing, entrances, etc., making a total of £4166/17/-. The expenditure on road works totalled £3103/10/9; street lighting, £lOO/8/-; ■ transfer to Hutt-Waikanae main highway account for maintenance and construction, £613/1/6; cleaning stream, £3/13/-: Paekakarlkl storm water drain, £62/17/7: fencing 1 at Paekakarlki, £25/5/-; tools, £6 11/7; Parfjparaumu rest-rooms, £4/5/6; Paekakarlki beach custodian, £26; fire extinguishing. £lO/16/11; notice boards, £3 15/10: roadman’s cottage insurance. £4 14/10: engineering, £B2/2/11: road classification, £3/10/-: cost raising I’aekakarikl water extension loan. £2O/6/6.
