Meeting of Committee SCHOOLS TOURNEY At a meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Football Association last night. Mr. S. C. Sheddon reported that school football was going along “swimmingly,” and the trials were to commence to-morrow (Friday) in preparation for the North Island primary schools tournament. The completion of the arrangements for the tournament will be dealt with by the New Zealand Council next Tuesday. It was reported that the amounts due to clubs as their share of the gates of Challenge Cup ties would be allocated to the team travelling to Auckland to play the North Island final. Petone will leave a week to-day for Auckland. Counting Chickens. Diamonds Club was granted permission to scud three teams—first reserves, intermediate, and fifth grade—to play at Palmerston North on August 22. The fixture had been made in anticipation that Wellington would be playing Canterbury for the F.A. trophy on that date. New Player. The New Zealand Council wrote granting a clearance for J. W. Neale from South Auckland to Wellington, also that McCormick, Diamonds Club, had been granted a clearance from Wakatu Club, Hawke’s Bay. Neale has signed on for Island Bay. Player’s Illness. Considerable regret was expressed when the committee was informed of the serious illness of J. Burke, the •well-known Mar- ! Ist player, who has undergone an operation for appendicitis. Hopes were expressed that he would make a speedy Recovery. Fixtures. The following fixtures were made for August 15:—Division I: Hospital v. Diamonds, at Hospital; Thistle v. Seatoun. at Seatoun. Auld Memorial Cup: Waterside v. Marist, Basin No. 1. Division II: Technical 0.8. v. Lower Hutt, Basin No. 2. . , , , 1 Petone will be playing at Auckland on this date. Hospital and Petone will meet in the first division championship at the Basin Reserve on August 22. This match will largely affect the result of the championship. The Hospital team was given permission to play at Palmerston North on September 12.
