Immediately after the decision of the Matson Line to run a service between Auckland and San Francisco that company, states a report from San Francisco, ordered an advertising campaign featuring New Zealand in sixteen of the leading newspapers in thirteen important cities in the United States. These papers have a combined daily circulation of more than 3,500,000 copies, and include the outstanding journals of the country, such as the “New York Times,” “Chicago Tribune,” “Boston Transcript,” “Cleveland Plain Dealer, and “Detroit Free Press” in the east, and the Los Angeles “Times” and Examiner, the San Francisco “Chronicle” and Examiner.” and the Oakland “Tribune” and “Post-Enquirer,” on the Pacific Coast. In addition, this company has distributed to leading tourist agencies through the country a handsome illustrated folder entitled “Scenic New Zealand.” Printed in colour, with pictures of Mount Cook, Rotorua, and other New Zealand attractons. the folder is expected to do much to educate the American public on the value of a trip to the Dominion.
