Suggestions for Retailers
N.Z.-MADE GOODS By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, July 17. At a conference of manufacturers and retailers held to discuss practical measures for stimulating local industries,- the following motions were carried: — “That this meeting suggests that it is in the best interests of the country that the policy of retailers should be to give full preference to New Zealand-made goods wherever practicable. “That manufacturers of New Zealand goods be asked to co-operate with retailers by advertising their productions and offering to employ definitely an extra number of people, and reduce the prices of goods in ratio to increased sales.” A committee was set up for the purpose of promoting reciprocity between manufacturers nnd retailers, . and so giving effect to the foregoing motions.
