Tyrell Smith, also on a Rudge, finished secondhand Mellors. on a New Imperial, was third, the foreign —aehines seemed to be outclassed. The Italian crack rider. Ghersi, came in sixth, but was riding a British New Imperial cycle. The little engines, each with a piston diameter no bigger than a wine-glass, stood up to the race with astonishing efficiency.
