Group of Seeded Players DRAW FOR CHAMPIONSHIP (Rec, June 18 5.5 pm.;. Official Wireless. Rugby, June ITFor the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championship, in the men's singles the eight “seeded” players are: H. W. Austin and F. J. Perry (Great Britain) ; Henri Cochet, Jean Borotra and Christian Boussus (France); S. B. Wood and F. X. Shields (America); and J. Satoh (Japan). Thia was the first time since full seeding has been in operation that two Englishmen have been among the select eight. . In the women s singles the seeded players are: Miss Betty Nuttall, Miss Phyllis Mudford and Mrs. F. Whittingstall (Great Britain); Fraulein Cilly Aussem and Fraulein H. Krahwinkel (Germany); Madame Rene Mathieu (France); Miss Helen Jacobs (America), and Senorita Elia d'Alvarez (Spain). . . ’ c In the women’s international tennis matches at Eastbourne to-day, Britain defeated France, winning aU six matches. The “seeding” of players in tennis tournaments is an arrangement of the draw to provide for suitable distribution of outstanding players. DAVIS CUP TENNIS Success of Czechoslovakia Copenhagen, June 17. In the semi-final of the European sone section of the Davis Cup contest, Czechoslovakia eliminated Denmark, and meets England in the final.
