ESPERANTO CLUB

The weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club took place on Tuesday night in the Y.M.C.A., Mr. E. C. Jack presiding. Tuition classes occupied the first portion of the evening, during which time short, extempore addresses were given by the senior members as follow:—“La Dancarto,” by Mr. Joseph Major, an Esperantist from Paris; “La Parolanta Fllnio,” by Mr. Vernon Leek; “OnfLernas Riilglltadbn,” by Mrs. C. Leek; “Fish-kaptado,” by Miss Coralie Smythson; “La Stormo sur la inaro" and “La Homa Korpo,” by Mr. L. E. Dust; “La Pereo de Vaporshipo" and "La Progreso de Esperanto,” by Mr. Bertram Potts, the club secretary. In the second portion of the evening Mr. Joseph Major gave a comprehensive outline in Esperanto of the “Oomoto” movement in Japan, a religious organisation which had officially adopted Esperanto for propaganda purposes, and whose adherents totalling over a million were learning Esperanto. Mr. L; E. Dust lectured in the international language on the subject of “La Barometra Dlagramo,” and demonstrated the various points on an accompanying chart. The concluding item was an original comedy in Esperanto entitled “La Botelo da Blero,” played by Miss Coralie Smythson, Mr. J. Major, Mr. Vernon Leek, and the club secretary. .
