OVER £2000 MISSING

Public Works Safe Robbery

Napier, May 6.

Further details of the robbery from the Public Works Department office safe at Murapara, 46 miles from Rotorua, reveal that £2199 was stolen. The haul, which was all in notes, consisted of 309 £5 notes, 604 £1 notes, and 100 10/- notes. The notes of the latter denomination were all Bank of New Zealand, and were numbered from C 324901 to C 325000, and signed by D. F. Reid and C. S. Davy. The actual times between which the robbery was effected were 9 p.m. Monday and 4 a.m. yesterday.
