AGED PRIEST SLAIN
Decapitated With Scythes GHASTLY DEED IN SPAIN (Rec. May 5, 8 p.m.) Madrid, May 5. Armed with scythes, a party of villagers at Villa-la-Fuenta, near Valencia, attacked and decapitated an aged priest who was an ardent monarchist. Father Sotero, the victim, for 25 years was head of his parish.

By the Spanish Government’s latest orders, all title-bearers must henceforth be addressed by their family names and not by their titles, states “The Times” correspondent at Madrid.
ALFONSO’S ATTITUDE
Feeling “Very Republican”
London, May 4.
The ex-King Alfonso says that he feels “very Republican.” He said that he personally desired no connection with any organisation and he had advised his supporters to place no obstacles in the path’of the provisional Government. He desired to remain a mere spectator.
