AFTERNOON PARTY
The Jacobean room of Kirkcaldie and Stains, Ltd., was filled with representatives of a great many women’s societies in Wellington yesterday afternoon, when a reception was held for Miss A. Kane. The room was charmingly decorated with blue hydrangeas, and tea was served from buffet tables gay with floral tributes. A motion of sympathy with Mrs. J. P. Firth, convener of the gathering, and with Lady Myers in the death of her sister, was passed. The executive committee comprised: Mrs. G. A. Troup, Lady Myers, Lady Luke, Lady Buckleton, Mrs. B. B. Wood, Mrs. J. G. Coates, Mrs. J. 8. Elliott, Mrs.'J. P. Firth (convener), and Mrs. Maeartby Reid. Appreciation of the work Miss Kane had done was expressed by Mrs. Troup, Lady Luke, and Mrs. Chatfield. Mrs. Troup presented Miss Kane with _ a cheque on behalf of those present. Miss Kane suitably replied. Among ' those present were: —Mrs. Forbes, Lady Statham, Mrs. Taverner, Mrs. Veitch. Mrs. Ransom, Lady Carncross, Mrs. Hutchings, Mrs. Corkill, Miss Downie Stewart, Miss E. Beere, Mrs. R W. Kane and Miss M. Kane, Mrs. Beswick, Mrs. Sprott, Mrs. Coleridge, Mrs. Henry Hall, Mrs. W. Perry and Mrs. A. Perry, Mrs. O’Shea, Mrs. L. O. H. Tripp. Miss McLean, Mrs. C. Tringham, Mrs. Dyer, Mrs. Morpeth, Miss M. Gray, Miss F. Penney, Miss D. Isaac, Mrs. W. Young. Mrs. H. G. Crawford, Mrs. W. Page, Mrs. Dennehy, Mrs. Florence, Mrs. J. Pow, Mrs. Magnus, bliss J.
