CALLOUS MURDERER
Tried to Stage Own Death Berlin, March 18. Eric Tetzner was sentenced to death for the murder of an unknown man, whose charred .body was found in Tetzner’s burnt car by the roadside. The body was identified and buried as that of “Eric Tetzner,” whose life was insured for £7OOO. Tetzner was sentenced also to twelve years for attempted murder and insurance fraud. His wife was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment for complicity in the fraud.
The police were suspicious, watched the “widow,” and overhead her telephoning to Strasburg, where they found and arrested Tetzner. It was revealed that Tetzner, who was a commercial traveller, previously managed to insure his mother-in-law for £5OO a month before her death from cancer. The prosecution submitted that the easy success of this ease induced Tetzner to stage his own death.
