MINIATURE RIFLES

There was a good attendance last night at the aunual meeting of the Lower Hutt Miniature Rifle Club, the club captain, Mr. P. B. Goldfinch, presiding. The annual report, which was adopted, stated the season to have been again n most successful one. No. 1 A grade team ngain won the. A grade shield in the Wellington Association’s interclub competition, winning eight of the series of nine matches. No.. 2 A team finished strongly. The B grade team won the B grade shield, and the C grade team was runuer-up for the C grade shield, only losing by two points in the shoot-off with Public Service, after a tie.. For the Osmond Shield quarterly competition, the club wo ntwo of the three shoots, on the third occasion with a record score of 686. The club championship was won by Mr. L. Hare, and the B grade championship by Mr. L. Deans. The trophy for the highest aggregate score in the A grade inter-club matches was again won by Mr. P. B. Goldfinch, the B grade by Mr. H. Caldwell, and the C grade by Mr. J. R. Davies. A member of the club, Mr. P. B. Goldfinch, won the New Zealand championship. The balance-sheet, which was adopted, showed a credit balance of £l/1/- with liabilities nil. The expenditure included £46/1/1 on effecting permanent improvements to the range the money coming wholly from euchre parties. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Patron, Sir Alexander Roberts; club captain, Mr. I. B. Goldfinch; vice-captain, Mr. H. Caldwell ; hon. secretary, Mr. S. Kay; hon. treasurer, Mr. F. W. Ching; management committee, Messrs. E. Veitch, 0. Ching, H. Keene, L. Hare, C. Lambert; hon. auditor, Mr. A. J. Gearing; delegates to Wellington Miniature Rifle Association, Mr. C. C. Lambert; handicapper, Mr. L. Hare; target adjudicator, Mr. C. MacDonald; Press reporter, Mr. E. Veitch.
