The Wellington Free Kindergarten Council met on Monday last, Mrs. H. E. Gibbs presiding. A warm welcome was extended to Mrs. D. O. Peacock, who has been re-elected to the council. The .Wellington Free Kindergarten Association will benefit greatly as a result of the will of the late Mrs. Emma Jane Kennedy. A substantial sum will be invested almost immediately on behalf of kindergarten activities, and eventually, when final payments are made, a further sum will be included, the interest accruing being paid' annually to the association, and known as “The Atchi-son-Kennedy Bequest.”

The foundation stone of a church has been laid at Durham (North Carolina), of which all the members are deaf and many are dumb. The rector is a deaf-mute and delivers his sermons in the sign language.
